Pregnancy Massage Twickenham
As the body changes through pregnancy: joints undergo a greater load, ligaments begin to soften and the body’s posture can change, any of which can lead to challenges including: pain; tiredness; and increased anxiety.
Academic research has demonstrated that massage therapy is beneficial during pregnancy with women who received a massage reporting a number of positive effects including: reduced leg and back pain; and decreased anxiety and depression*. It is hypothesised that these positive effects result from the stimulation of pressure receptors which affect the nervous system as well as secretion of cortisol.
I’m an experienced antenatal and postnatal massage therapist and have supported numerous women, including my wife, through their pregnancy journey.
